Beginner Lessons

Bath Archers provide a fully structured course under the supervision of Archery GB qualified coaches and supported by experienced archers who are all volunteers.

Courses are mixed for adults and juniors which enables families to learn together.

Our minimum junior age limit is 12 years old, up until the age of 18, and each candidate must be accompanied by a parent / guardian who must remain in attendance at all times. Maybe the parent / guardian might enjoy taking part too rather than just watching! We currently run three courses in a year. All sessions must be attended.

  • Course One:- April: Sat 13th, Sun 21st & Sat 4th May COURSE FULL
  • Course Two:- July: Sun 21st , Sat 27th & Aug Sun 4th COURSE FULL
  • Course Three:- Sept: Sat 28th , Oct Sat 5th and 12th AVAILABLE

The candidates are introduced to everything from safety to bow handling to equipment and shooting which includes different recurve bow techniques. Over the length of the course there will be demonstrations of longbow, recurve and compound bows with a first hand experience of using longbows as well. The club will provide the course equipment.

The course consists of three consecutive Saturday mornings from 9.15am until 1pm. The course cost is £75 per person, a £20 deposit and completed form is required to secure a place, this is non refundable. If you are interested in a 2019 course please contact Beginners course organiser Richard Entwistle. You will need to confirm which course you are interested in but we cannot guarantee that a place is available. The form to complete is in doc format here or in pdf format here and full payment is required prior to the course commencing.
Payment can be made by cheque or Bank Transfer details are available on request.

After the course is completed and you have successfully passed the required standard to shoot safely and proficiently the candidate will be awarded a certificate, which will enable the individual to apply for club membership.(not necessarily this one)

Once the membership has been accepted you will be allowed to use the club equipment for up to two months and then you are expected to purchase your own kit.

We thoroughly recommend a Taster Session as an introduction to archery to see if this is the sport for you. Details can be found on our courses web page.
